Hippy AI Policy

Here in the new world of smart, thinking and creating machines, I thought I should set out my Artificial Intelligence policy. Yes, I really have one. Everyone should.

Artificial Intelligence is a tool, like word processor, or graphics application, and I use them too. I think it is important to spell out how AI fits into northlondonhippy.com. I will break it all down by media type.

Words:

I still come up with every idea, and I write every word. No compromises on that.

I do use AI for some research, fact checking and sourcing, and I have used it to proofread. I have some bad writing habits, like using too many commas, or typing the same same word twice and not noticing. I prefer to have a human proofread for me, but sometimes it’s not an option.

I do not use AI for copy editing. I don’t let it change a single word. I don’t use it for brainstorming, but I have used it to provide feedback on things I’ve already written.

Graphics & Images:

I still create all my own graphics, but I have used AI to generate some elements I couldn’t acquire from Google Images because they only existed in my imagination. Images I take from Google are deployed under the concept of “fair use” which includes commentary, and satire.

AI generated images that I have prompted with lots of detail, can be used freely. That’s a big factor for me, when it’s not commentary or satire. For example, I’ve been publishing some fiction on here recently. I like to ensure I have usage rights to the accompanying graphics.

Video:

I have not generated a frame of AI video yet, but I expect I will at some point. Once I have done it, I will update this section with more details of how I will be using it here. I’d like some experience with it first before drafting this section.

Music:

Won’t lie, generating music is great for my silly little videos. You can come up with a mood, a style, whatever you can imagine, and you will get some copyright free music. If you post on YouTube, or TikTok, it is any easy way to avoid having your content removed.

Would I prefer to write and record my own original music? Of course I would. Do I have the musical talent and skill to do it? No. No I do not.
